The filler breathers from the SMBB, SMBT, SMBL and SMBP series from STAUFF are robust filler filters and tank filler necks with metal or steel filler breathers. The caps feature excellent protection against corrosion and other external influences thanks to the use of the STAUFF zinc/nickel surface coating. Chrome-plated and powder-coated versions are also available.Â
The components are attached either on the top or on the side of hydraulic tanks or other reservoirs. Bracket adapter sets made of polyamide (PA) or aluminium are used for mounting the breather on the side of an oil tank.Â
The typical areas of application are in stationary hydraulics and mobile hydraulics. In these cases, the filler breathers are usually placed directly on the hydraulic unit.Â
The components are mounted with a BSP or NPT male thread for screwing in, with push-to-connect or as a bayonet version with three-hole or six-hole connection as per DIN 24557-2.Â
Filler breathers are designed for filling and venting hydraulic tanks. They allow permanent venting of the tanks while protecting against ingress of dirt. This function is ensured with an optionally integrated air filter element (giant air breather). Â
Another option is to apply pressure:Â
When the liquid level in the tank rises, venting takes place only once the applied pressure has been exceeded. When the liquid level in the tank goes down, venting is ensured at all times. The applied pressure generates a preload in the tank, supporting the intake action of the pump. Â
Shorter venting cycles significantly increase the service life and maintenance intervals of the breather and the useful life of the fluid. This process also reduces foaming and cavitation in the tank, providing additional protection against wear and decomposition of the fluid.Â
Also available from STAUFF: metal and plastic filler screens, dipsticks in different lengths, air filter elements (giant air breathers), connection adapters and adapter sets, and many other accessories.
